About this Website
I’ve created this as an educational resource and tool for costume designing historical productions. The goal is to compile all of the important, specific details a designer requires, then streamline it into an efficient, easy-to-navigate format.
It was sparked by frustrations I had with previous methods of research. It becomes too messy and redundant; too much time spent digging through books and websites, looking multiple times for the same references, and sifting through oceans for one specific piece of information.
My solution is to compile all important information as I find it for later use. The idea is to save time otherwise spent hunting down the same information twice. Thus, valuable research time is devoted to adding new information, and I can move on to designing.

This is an ongoing, work in progress that I will continue to add on to over time. Initially, there will be a lot of quick info-dumping to fill things out. But, ultimately my goal is to verify and reference as much as possible, and eventually focus on primary sources (just keep in mind that they start to dwindle down the further back into history one digs).
I aim for transparency when things get a little more ‘interpretive,’ but I strongly encourage anyone referencing this to always supplement with your own research. Do not rely solely on my information, especially while this is still in its infancy. I am not all-knowing or perfect; I’m simply using my educational background and experience to research and record as much as possible.

Hi! I'm Christa. I'm a Costume Designer with an obsession for historical fashion. I'm particularly fond of the fantasy genre, especially when executed well. I'm always inspired by designs that can establish a new world, spur on a narrative, and silently speak for the characters that inhabit them.
